Event Details

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? In addition, it is also the month of William Shakespeare’s birth in 1564 and death in 1616. But why celebrate this playwright and poet over 400 years later? To help answer that question, we are lucky to have the Co-founders and Artistic Associates of Capital Classics Theatre Company, Geoffrey and Laura Sheehan, perform for us live on Zoom. By performing different scenes of Shakespeare’s plays, they will illustrate how Shakespeare uses poetry to drive the action of the play, and suspend reality for the audience. Participants will also learn how music is used in a similar fashion by witnessing the actual process of a song composed on the fly by Composer Jaeme Brennan McDonald with Geoff’s direction.

You must provide your email address at registration to receive the Zoom link. Your Registration Confirmation Notice includes the Zoom link for the program. All participants will start with video off and sound muted. No computer/internet at home? Call the Library for the phone number, meeting ID and password, and join us over the phone.
