The Unknown Schubert with Jeffrey Engel (Virtual)

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Bloomfield Public Library
Virtual

Event Details

Today Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828) is one of the most celebrated names in music history. This was not the case during his lifetime. Schubert worked in relative obscurity and failed to hear public performances of his greatest works. It would take decades after his death before so much of his music would be discovered and heard for the first time.

Jeffrey Engel will detail the long history of Schubert’s ascent to the pantheon of great composers and play excerpts from several of his compositions.
