This event is being postponed until 10/28 at 7:00 PM on the Bloomfield Town Green.
International Observe the Moon Night (IOMN) is a time to come together with fellow Moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide. This NASA-sponsored event occurs annually in September or October, when the Moon is around first quarter ― a great phase for evening observing. A first-quarter Moon offers excellent viewing opportunities along the terminator (the line between night and day), where shadows enhance the Moon’s cratered landscape.
Join staff from BPL and members of the Astronomical Society of Greater Hartford (ASGH) as we celebrate IOMN and look at the moon in the night sky. We’ll have telescopes and binoculars on hand for a closer look. Snacks and some other fun items will be on hand to add to our fun.
For all Ages - no registration required. Our moon viewing will take place on the Bloomfield Town Green.
*This even is dependent on weather - it will be cancelled for rain or significant cloud cover (rain date is 10/28). Check bplct.org the day of the event for updates.
