Bloomfield Public Library

Event Details

BPL is excited to invite you to an all-ages concert as part of Bloomfield’s Juneteenth weekend celebration! On Sunday, June 23, the Town of Bloomfield and Blue Hills Fire Dept. will host a Food and Craft Festival from 1:00-5:00 pm at the Blue Hills Fire Dept., 1021 Blue Hills Avenue, featuring food trucks, vendors, children’s activities, and live entertainment. At 2:30-3:30 PM, our community will be entertained by The Lost Tribe Band, generously funded by the Friends of Bloomfield Public Library. You can also stop by the BPL tent to pick up a take-home craft for kids.

The Lost Tribe is a drum-centered Afro-funk fusion ensemble, led by multi-percussionist Jocelyn Pleasant. Begun in 2016, the band blends djembe music into African Diasporic genres like jazz, rock, funk, blues, and reggae. A unique “Hartford sound” can be heard in jazz-infused horn solos and the driving drum rhythms of the group. Connecticut roots are vital to the sound and direction of the group, but each member also brings their own flavor and cultural background to the music. This mixture of energies creates a unique blend that is palpable to audiences, inviting participation and a sense of joy.
