Social Justice Book Club: Good Talk

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Event Details

Have you been hearing about racial and social justice, and want to learn more? Whether you are just getting started, or have been doing the work for decades, we hope you can join us at BPL’s Social Justice Book Club. Meeting monthly on the last Tuesday of the month, this group will seek to create a brave space for learning and sharing a variety of perspectives.

Our July book will be Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations by Mira Jacob. When her bi-racial son asks the tough questions, Mira has to think back to where she’s gotten her own answers: her most formative conversations about race, color, sexuality, and, of course, love. This deeply relatable graphic (meaning the book contains images along with the text) memoir delves into American identity, interracial families, and the realities that divide us by offering hope in the midst of complexity.

Please call Prosser or McMahon Wintonbury to reserve a copy of the book, or borrow it online through the Libby app. Upon registering your email for this program, you will receive the Zoom link to join. All participants will start with video off and sound muted. No computer/internet at home? Call the Library for the phone number, meeting ID, and password, and join us over the phone.
