"Two Poets from Syracuse" -- Linda Griggs and Martin Willits, Jr.
Linda Griggs is the founder and host of Palace Poetry Group in Fayetteville, NY. A college teacher and avid gardener, her publications include
Love Poems of the Universe (2003),
The Night of the Starfish People (Willett Press, 2011),
The Balance of Love (Willett Press, 2012), and
Dancing in the Wind (Clare Songbirds Publishing House, 2018). "After the Shift," a reaction to the COVID pandemic, appeared in
Comstock Review,
2021, and three of her poems were published in an anthology of Onondaga County poets.
Martin
Willitts, Jr is a retired librarian from Syracuse, NY. He was nominated for 15
Pushcart and 13 Best of the Net awards. His many poetry awards include the 2012 Big River
Poetry Review’s William K. Hathaway Award; 2013 Bill Holm Witness Poetry
Contest; 2014 Dylan Thomas
International Poetry Contest; Stephen A. DiBiase Poetry Prize, 2018; and Editor’s Choice, Rattle Ekphrastic Challenge, December 2020. Martin
has 21 full-length collections including the Blue Light Award 2019,
The Temporary World. A recent
full-length book is Harvest Time (Deerbrook Press, 2021), Forthcoming
titles include, among others, Leaving Nothing Behind (Fernwood Press,
2021), Meditations on Thomas Cole’s Paintings (Aldrich Press, 2021); and
All Wars Are the Same War (FutureCycle Press, 2022).
