VIRTUAL Social Justice Book Club: Me and White Supremacy

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Event Details

Have you been hearing about racial and social justice, and want to learn more? Whether you are just getting started, or have been doing the work for decades, we hope you can join us at BPL’s Social Justice Book Club. Meeting monthly on the last Tuesday of the month, this group will seek to create a brave space for learning and sharing a variety of perspectives.

Our first book will be Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad. When the author began an Instagram challenge called #MeAndWhiteSupremacy, she never predicted it would spread so quickly. Using a step-by-step reflection process, she encouraged people with white privilege to examine their racist thoughts and behaviors. Thousands of people participated in the challenge. Since then, the work has spread to families, book clubs, educational institutions, nonprofits, corporations, event spaces, and more.

Print copies of the book are available at our physical locations by calling the library and scheduling a curbside pickup. Ebook and audiobook copies are available at our third location, bplct.org, through the Hoopla and Libby apps. Please call the reference desk if you need help using these programs.

Upon registering your email for this program, you will receive the Zoom link to join. All participants will start with video off and sound muted. No computer/internet at home? Call the Library for the phone number, meeting ID, and password and join us over the phone.
